2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Hillstone Vineyard

This is our third release from the beautiful hillside vineyard at the Rutherford home of Carol and George Biel. In 2004 only 2 barrels of "Hillstone Vineyard" were produced, exclusively for the Biel's Hillstone Restaurant Group. From the 2005 vintage, just 4 barrels were bottled; three exclusively for the Biels. For 2006 production is up and for a very limited time this wine will be available to our mailing list customers.
Planted in 1993, mature vines at the Hillstone Vineyard are rooted in cobbly, light loam soils, terraced on a steep, west-facing slope in Rutherford. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in all new French oak, the 2006 Hillstone is serious and showy, packed with wild blackberry, sweet oak, vanilla bean and espresso. Fleshy, ripe and sinewy to the core, the wine is propelled by mature tannins and distinctive chocolate overtones to a lengthy finish. 260 cases produced.
