At the winery, we taste through each lot regularly to track the evolution of individual wines and to fine tune barrel selections. Ultimately, every single barrel is tasted and evaluated before we put our final blends together for bottling.
Chardonnay is whole cluster pressed, barrel fermented and aged sur lies with batonnage in 100% French oak for 11-15 months, undergoing 100% malolactic fermentation, then bottled unfined and unfiltered. Sauvignon Blanc is whole cluster pressed, fermented and barrel aged in French oak and stainless steel for 9-11 months with zero malolactic fermentation.
Red varietals are picked at full ripeness and maturity. Hand sorted and de-stemmed to small stainless steel tanks and open top fermenters, the wines are pressed off at dryness after 2-4 weeks on the skins. Bordeaux varietals are aged primarily in new French oak for 19 months then bottled unfined and unfiltered. We also like American oak in some of our blends including the Alec's Blend and Syrah. We produce big, spicy, concentrated wines that are balanced yet full of black fruit and mature, mouth-coating tannins.
Raven black with a Gothic soul, our 2019 Cuvee L is an imposing cathedral of wine built from stone, timber, and iron. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon with a core of melted black fruit and baking chocolate, and ascending aromas of espresso, cedar, and candlewax. Soaring on entry to a vaulted ceiling, the wine is supported with formidable truss-like tannins.

Debbie Lewis loved Sauvignon Blanc and we celebrate her every year with this extraordinary and very limited bottling. The 2021 is a soaring, high-spirited wine laden with gold-skinned tropical fruit, dried mango, and lime skin. Suffused with shortbread, toast points, bee pollen and banana leaf the nose is wonderfully complex and enticing, with top notes of wet stone and Valencia orange. Luxuriant yet lifted on the palate this Debbie’s is divine, with drive and light that shines to a long, shimmering tail.
From a superb vintage, with its stunning color and seductive nose, the 2021 Reserve Cabernet stands among our finest ever. Layers of clove and red cedar aromas are accented with heather flower and espresso forte, while crushed currants and huckleberry fruit form the core. Vivid, textured, and reminiscent of an Old Masters painting, the wine is crafted with supple muscle and super-fine texture, finishing with truffle-dusted tannins.

Our 2021 Mason’s Cabernet begs the question: how can such a delicious wine be so serious? Crushed black cherry and brambleberries form a wall of frontal fruit laced with café mocha, milk chocolate, and showy oak spices. Fermented from 100% Syrah grapes our translucent, ruby-red 2022 Vin Gris is a superb spring sipper! Refreshing raspberry and yellow peach fruits are inflected with rose petal, white pepper, slate and distinctive Scotch heather. Super saturated and packed with enticing aromas, our 2021 Alec’s Blend is 79% Syrah, 15% Merlot, 3% Petite Sirah, and 3% Cabernet Franc. Ultra-plush on entry the palate is full of fresh, broad-ranging fruit punctuated with espresso, fine-grained tannins, and a long juicy finish.
